It was a great goal

Everton Reserves coach Andy Holden was pleased with hissides performance after they defeated Wigan at Haig Avenue onTuesday.The Blues won 2-0 courtesy of second half strikes from PaulHopkins and Victor Anichebe.The first half was a closely matched affair, but Everton weremuch improved after the break. I think the Wigan boys went about it well and played somenice football in the first half, without really hurting IainTurner. I wasnt happy with one or two things that were goingon in the first half, but the lads rectified that in the secondhalf, and there were two good goals. Nuno Valente, Per Kroldrup and Li Tie all played in the match tokeep up their match fitness, but it was the younger members of theside who grabbed the goals. Having the experienced players in the side does noharm,  continued Holden. It has served its purpose because they needed a run outand they got one tonight, they have all come off with a clean billof health so thats good. The first goal was a smashing goal, a great ball from JayHarris over the top of the centre half and Hopkins has hit a greatvolley.

It was a great goal. And Holden praised Victor Anichebe, who secured the win instoppage time. Victor is always capable of scoring like that. We wereworking on that in training, turning and hitting the target andhes got it off to a tee. The coach was also pleased with the team performance to ensurethe victory, even after the senior players had beensubstituted.
